In the Park of M. R. Štefánik, in addition to Štefánik’s bronze statue or sailor’s statue, there is a memorial of those who had been displaced by force or deported. It reminds us of the inglorious history of modern Komárno: almost 2000 Jewish citizens were deported to concentration camps between 1944 and 1945. From 1947-48, several thousand citizens of Hungarian nationality were forcefully relocated to Hungary after the Second World War. The building of the former Province Dome is located at the beginning of the pedestrian zone and opposite the memorial. From half of the 18th century until the disintegration of the monarchy and establishment of Czecho-Slovakia, the Komárno-Ostrihom Province officers had offices there.
